Gaurang’s Kitchen – this is the latest ‘it’ place to dine in Jubilee Hills. Till now, the name Gaurang meant luxurious and elaborate Indian weaves. He was known for his revival series and has been in the fashion industry for decades. But all creative people have different facets to them, and likewise, Gaurang reveals he had a passion for a restaurant that serves Indian vegetarian food.
However, his dream of opening a restaurant is not anything new. Gaurang says he has been contemplating opening the restaurant for nearly 12 years now. Also, he had to find the right space for his dream to be put into action. Finally, he found the space, and the Gaurang’s happened.
The work started in October 2021, and it was ready by March 2022. The entire space is filled with drapes of Gaurang’s designs, some framed, some used as part of upholstery, and some as drapes. In fact, Gaurang Shah is quite proud of extending his creative streak and founding a restaurant.
He says while the food scene in Hyderabad is great, it’s mostly non-vegetarian and western. So he wanted to bring in a touch of authenticity by curating foods from various parts of the country and including them in his list. Of course, he is still working on the recipes from the eastern part of India.
The seating at the restaurant is Dhaba style as Gaurang loves to eat his food with his hands, and he hopes his guests do the same. And last but not least, he has an extremely interesting selection of desi ice creams like Sandesh ice cream, etc. All ingredients are supplied by his brother-in-law based out of Mumbai, and Gaurang is only too happy to pick the menu each day.
So, while at Gaurang’s, the thali changes every morning and evening and each day of the week. Check it out for some finger-licking vegetarian Indian food.
