Pandemic might have stopped Hyderabadis from going to shopping places and malls to buy whatever they like, but the people knew that if they can't go shopping, the shop can come to them, and that's how they took to online shopping websites and took shopping at home to a whole new level in the past one year.
The E-commerce sites are just flooded with discounts and all kinds of schemes throughout the month. The big offers that usually happen quarterly now happen every one or two days in a month where 40-50% of the products are sold at a throwaway price. A recent survey done by LocalCircles showed that nearly 51% of people prefer shopping from home using e-commerce, and 23 prefer calling and buying products, and only 26% prefer going to a shopping center to buy their products and services.
The preference for online shopping increased only due to the pandemic, which puts the gathering and human contact at risk. The endless offers always ensured that the discounts are better than what they would get in the retail market. While e-commerce companies have been booming with growth, the shopping malls and stores are seeing no or 26% of people coming to the store, which is quite low considering aspects of running the store and the stock's clearance.
Even unlock in 2020 and 2021 hasn't helped offline shopping pick up from where it fell. However, many brands who are not into e-commerce are trying to put it across to the government that people will visit their shops if there are not many offers online. Time will tell if the current survey will get even or online shopping will increase or see a drop when covid19 reduces drastically.
